Charlotte Mason Teaching
AmblesideOnline is a free homeschool curriculum that uses Charlotte
Mason's classically-based principles to prepare children for a life
of rich relationships with everything around them: God, humanity,
and the natural world. AO's detailed schedules, time-tested methods,
and extensive teacher resources allow parents to focus effectively on
the unique needs of each child.
The AmblesideOnline library hosts a large collection of original Charlotte
Mason materials, which have been digitized by our volunteers. In addition,
our community offers a wide variety of resources for homeschooling
parents and Charlotte Mason educators: a support forum, an archive of
wisdom from experienced Charlotte Mason educators, as well as original
and current books and articles about Charlotte Mason's living ideas.

mother named Tammy. In 2008, the site was acquired by Home School,
Inc. (www.Home-School-Inc.com), a company committed to providing families
with valuable tools and access to information so that they may experience
the wonderful joys of homeschooling.

I don’t use printables (and you shouldn’t either)
There’s an unspoken rule in the schooling world that the more written
work a student produces, the more he has learned. I just don’t agree.

- Lapbooks
- Reading
- Student-produced stories
- Student-produced outlines or fact sheets
- Student-produced collages of information

Sweet piece on home schooling
The funny thing is, the lazier I grew at providing education, the better my children became at seeking it out.
Children are naturally predisposed, from birth, to seek learning and growth.
Children are intrinsically motivated to learn.
Children learn by making mistakes and then noticing and correcting their own mistakes.
Children learn best with minimal interference (the scientific process is instinctive to them).
Provide a rich learning environment, model correct behavior, and support your child’s choices.
Force is detrimental to learning.
Do not overschedule your child.
Genius can only be realized by it’s owner.
How will it look?
What if?
